Charlotte Watts

Originally trained as a mathematician, with further training in epidemiology, economics and social science methods, she has more than twenty years experience in international HIV and violence research, bringing a strong multi-disciplinary perspective to the complex challenge of addressing violence against women and girls, and preventing HIV in low and middle-income countries. At the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine she founded the Gender, Violence and Health Centre and led the Social and Mathematical Epidemiology Group. Charlotte is seconded to the Department of International Development and is Chief Scientific Advisor, and Director of the Research and Evidence Division.
